After mom fed us tonight she brushed Tasha and I and oh boy! does Tasha ever have a lot of hair. She’s shedding like it’s going out of style and it’s all over the yard in clumps. She could give fur coats to all those bald dogs. Mom brushed Tashsa with this tiny little brush but, if you ask me she should have used a rake on her to pull all that lose hair off of her. I sat and waited until Tasha was all brushed and then she went off to bark at the cat. I can’t believe what a show-off she is, barking really loud at the cat and all because mom was out with us. When it was my turn to be brushed I sat really still and enjoyed every minute of it. It’s not very often we get brushed, but mom said she would try to do it more often, she just gets really busy with everything else.

Mom,
I’m meowing out here, but I can’t get in. I can hear you through the window typing away, but you won’t get up and answer the door and that darn dog Tash is barking and growling at me. I really don’t want to squeeze under the screen door but I do want to sit in your lap. I haven’t seen you all day and it’s time for you to give me attention. I could use a good scratching behind the ears and a nice soft lap to sleep in for awhile. I’ve certainly had a very hard day today, sleeping in the garage until five in the afternoon and going outside only to be attacked by that pesty bird. I still haven’t caught him yet, but I’m working on it.
Oh! won’t you please let me in.

We Vow
to lick the moisturizer off your face
to jump all over you in greeting
to shed all over your pants
to keep intruders away from you
to always wag our tails when you talk to us
to forever be loyal
and to clean our bowls as long as you feed us dinner.

If that very irritating bird divebombs me one more time he is going to meet his end. That bird has been in the front yard for a week now and every time I venture outside he starts squaking and trying to chase me. Yesterday, he was so brave he even came right up to the front porch and sat in the hanging flower pot making all these noises. I tried to get inside as fast as I could, but squeezing under the screen door was my only option and I don’t like to squeeze under the door. Luckily, mom heard the bird and held the screen door open for me. He must have a nest close to the house and be protecting it, but it’s my front yard and no one treats me like that.
That bird looks like a bluejay except that he’s brown and has white on his stomach and brown feathers with white edging and the tail feathers stand straight up in the back, they don’t look like they belong at all, it looks as if they were just stuck there.
I haven’t felt like killing a bird in a very long time. Mom feeds me so well that I’m not hungry for raw meat and having to work so hard to get my food. All I have to is find mom anytime in the evening and Meow at her and she feeds me. I’m so glad she understands me. I’ve learned that the word dinner means to eat and I come running when she calls me for dinner. When I’m in the house and she calls the family for dinner I’m the first one to the kitchen and It makes my day if she has something for me.
As for that bird he’ll soon meet his end, very soon, I’m tired of it hanging around. Nobody, not even a pesty bird is going to be the boss of my front yard.

Mom and Dad left for the day again and they’re not back yet to feed us and the sun went down a while ago. I hope they get back soon, cause I’m really hungry and it’s so hard to wait and wait before they feed us. Last night, they had a party for one of the kids and all these people came over and then they went to the front room and I didn’t see anybody for a long time and I couldn’t see what they were doing, but I heard lots of squeals and laughter. Well, mom was so busy with all her guests that she completely forgot aobut feeding us and it was very very late at night before we got feed. I’ll be so happy when they come home.

I don’t know if Tasha will ever get used to the family being gone all day. She gets so nervous when there gone. I’m used to them leaving all day and sometimes for days at a time when they say they take a vacation. I even like when mom’s brother comes to feed us when they go on vacation because I get to pull all my tricks on him, that was before he figured them out. I remember one time when mom’s brother came to feed me and I was still young and the only dog in the yard and he comes out to talk to me and goes back in to get the food. Well, he only shut the screen door and didn’t know that the screen was lose all down the side and so I walked right in and wandered into the garage where they keep the food. He was quite surprised that I had found my way into the house and then we had a nice game of chase in the house before he caught me.
“Yeah, it’s hard to wait around to be fed, but as soon as I hear them get home I going to keep barking until they bring the food out.”

“Hey, you’re in my chair again” said mom as she pushed me out of the chair that is her favorite spot at the table. I just wanted to lay there and feel like I was close to her, but fine I’ll lay on the floor beside her chair. There she goes again sitting in front of that machine that she stares atand makes noise on. She calls it’s a laptop, but it means nothing to me only that mom doesn’t pay attention to me when she is using it.
Earlier today my usual routine of sleeping till 5 pm in the garage was interrupted when some visitor came walking through the garage and stepped on my blankets. Then I tried to hide under the dining room table, but mom put me outside and told me to hide from the dogs. I was outside for hours and I wasn’t at all comfortable, it was just too hot.

Tell me, what good is mom’s lap if I can’t sit in it? I’m the princess kitty around here and I always used to sit in moms lap as soon as she sat down in her chair and then something really strange happened. She bought this machine that now sits in her lap and she continuosly moves her fingers on it. I just don’t understand what this is all about. She gets mad at me when I try to jump on top of the machine and blocks me from doing that. Not fair at all. Mom’s lap is only for me. (I’m going to sulk now)
I’ve got to find a way to get rid of that machine occupies her lap. When she sits at the table I can usually jump from the floor the table and then walk in front of this machine waving my tail in moms face, to try and break her concentration, “Hello, remember me? Your job is to pet me.”
Okay! I’ve tried again to get mom’s attention and she just rubbed behind my ears. That’s not good enough, maybe, if I meow really loud I can get her attention. “MEOW,”
“Yes, kitty what do you need” asks mom.
“What do I need? I need your attention. I’m not chopped liver here, I adopted you remember and I need some attention. Oh it’s hopeless, never mind, I’m just going to sit under the table and dream of catching that pesty bird that kept chirping at me tonight.

It’s late at night and I’m hiding on mom’s chair that she sits in at the dining room table. I’m being really quiet because if she discovers me then I’ll be put in the garage for the night where I normally sleep. I don’t want to sleep in the garage because then I am so far away from mom. Maybe, if I just lay quietly and don’t make my bell jingle I can stay the night in this spot. Oops! mom didn’t forget about me, now she’s picking me up and putting me in the garage saying, “Goodnight Sassy see you in the morning.”

It was really cool today, no matter where I layed in the yard there was a breeze blowing and this heavy black coat of mine didn’t absorb any sun. I don’t know how Spencer does it laying in the sun all morning and never being bothered by the heat, but then again he’s a blondie dog and he has very short hair. Last summer he got really bothered by the heat and he worked for days digging this hole in the ground. Mom says it’s the size of a bathtub and then he went to try it out and the only thing you could see sticking out of it was his head. It was like his entire body had diappeared. I wanted to lay there and be cool so I went and took it away from him and told him that he’d have to go make another one for himself because this one was mine, all mine. He didn’t like that in the least and he walked away, mumbling that the yard was so much nicer before I came along. “Yeah! I love you to Spencer” I said right as I settled into my new cool hole in the ground.
